How to explain it to your child
Subtract place by place — each column on its own.
- Split both numbers into hundreds, tens and ones. — 658 - 234
- Subtract the hundreds. — 600 - 200 = 400
- Subtract the tens, then the ones. — 50 - 30 = 20; 8 - 4 = 4
- Put them together. — 400 + 20 + 4 = 424
Example: 658 - 234: 600-200=400; 50-30=20; 8-4=4; makes 424.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
