How to explain it to your child
Three words are enough to start: certain, possible, impossible — no percentages needed.
- Check what can happen at all. — A bag with only red balls → certain to draw red
- If the bag mixes two colours, each is possible, never certain. — 4 red, 1 blue → drawing blue is possible
- To compare, count: more balls of a colour means more likely. — 4 red, 1 blue → red is more likely
Example: A bag with 4 red balls and 1 blue: red is more likely; blue is possible but not certain.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
