How to explain it to your child
Work place by place: hundreds, tens, ones — no carrying needed.
- Split both numbers into hundreds, tens and ones. — 320 + 145
- Add the hundreds. — 300 + 100 = 400
- Add the tens, then the ones. — 20 + 40 = 60; 0 + 5 = 5
- Put it all together. — 400 + 60 + 5 = 465
Example: 320 + 145: 300+100=400; 20+40=60; 0+5=5; makes 465.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
