How to explain it to your child
Always the column (letter) first, then the row (number) — that order is a convention and has to be firm, or C4 gets confused with 4C.
- Find the column letter first (horizontal, A/B/C/…). — The X is in column C
- Then find the row number (vertical, 1/2/3/…). — The X is in row 4
- Combine both into the cell reference: letter before number. — Column C + row 4 = cell C4
Example: The X is in column C and row 4: together, that's cell C4.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
