How to explain it to your child
A letter is symmetric when a vertical line splits it into two mirror-matching halves — check it with a hand mirror, don't guess.
- Split the letter down the middle, vertically (in your head or with a mirror). — M split down the middle: left and right look the same
- Check whether both halves really are mirror images of each other. — F split down the middle: left and right look different
- If both halves match, the letter is symmetric. — M is symmetric, F is not
Example: M split down the middle gives two matching halves — M is symmetric. F gives two different halves — F is not symmetric.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
