How to explain it to your child
Tens plus tens, ones plus ones.
- Split both numbers into tens and ones. — 23 + 14 = (20 + 3) + (10 + 4)
- Add the tens. — 20 + 10 = 30
- Add the ones. — 3 + 4 = 7
- Put them together. — 30 + 7 = 37
Example: 23 + 14: 20+10=30; 3+4=7; makes 37.
Every sheet has a QR code: if your child gets stuck, they scan it and get this explanation step by step — without giving the answer away.
